Call 911 for Medical Emergencies

The patient has taken an overdose of pills within the last 6 hours and has any of the following: drowsiness, intoxication, slurred speech, staggering, vomiting, confusion, trembling, terrors, shivering, sweating, or seizures. |

The patient has chest pains with any of the following:
crushing and felt beneath the sternum (chest bone)
lasted longer than 30 minutes
pain that radiates (goes down) either arm, neck, jaw, back, shoulders, or abdomen |

The patient has stab or other wounds with bleeding that doesn’t stop with pressure. |
| |
The patient has taken poisons or poisonous substance. |
| |
The patient is unconscious and can’t be awakened by shaking or talking. |
| |
The patient has had a seizure in the last hour and is confused. |
| |
The patient is coughing and has any of the following: night sweats, severe pain when breathing in, or blood coming from the nose or mouth. |

The doctor tells you to go to the emergency room. |
