Disaster Recovery Announcement

The Southwest Clinic will reopen on Wednesday October 1st and the Northwest clinic will reopen on Thursday October 2nd. Effective Monday, September 29th no more medication refills for current MHMRA clients will be given at NPC. As of September 29th, all current clients should get their medications refilled at their own clinic. Northwest clinic clients who must have medications before October 2nd should go the Ripley Clinic at 4414 navigation, 77011 to get their refills.

The following MHMRA locations are open:
Ripley Clinic is open.
Southeast Clinic is open.
The Northeast Clinic on North Loop East is open for New Start Consumers.
Early Childhood Intervention programs are open at both the Airline and Hillcroft locations.
The Supported Employment Program in Humble is open.
The Children's Co-location Clinic located in the Heights is open.
Behavioral Training Program is open.
Safe Havens is open.
Path is open.
All other current MHMRA Consumers can get their Medications refilled at the Neuropsychiatric Center located at 1502 Taub Loop between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday through Friday only. Please bring your empty prescription bottles with you.
All other MHMRA locations are currently closed.
Staff please contact your supervisors to know when and where you need to report to work.

9/20/2008 — Destination Dignity 2008 : Stigma Hurts!
| Destination Dignity 2008 will consist of a fun walk, which is a public event aimed at combating societal stigma. The fun walk will be a non-competitive activity, followed by an educational program. This event will highlight the many abilities of those diagnosed with IDDs, educate about person-first language, and provide information on available community resources. |

7/15/2008 — Congratulations Sylvia Muzquiz-Drummond, 2008 Exemplary Psychiatrist (NAMI)

Dr. Sylvia Muzquiz-Drummond, medical director of Mental Health Services, has been named 2008 Exemplary Psychiatrist Award by NAMI Metropolitan Houston. To mark the milestone, national NAMI held a breakfast in her honor in Washington, DC during this year's American Psychiatric Association's annual meeting. Dr. Muzquiz-Drummond supervises a staff of 35 doctors, and her unit treats more than 20,000 adults andd 8,000 children and adolescents at four treatment centers over the course of a year. Her nomination read, in part: "Her patients experience her as a warm and caring person whose bright smile and simple way of communicating with them gives them hope, helpful instructions, and insights into managing their illness."
